WEEK 11! NOW THIS IS FOOTBALL...

THE RISE AND FALL

This past week had it's ups and downs for all the fans of the NFL, but it definitely was a great week for football in general. I think the way each game ended is a good indication of which teams were truly worthy of their rankings and also who might be going to the playoffs this year. For what its worth, football seems more alive this year than in the past years and the players true colors and talents are really being shown.

Lets start off with Mr. Michael Vick... He was a force to be reckoned with
back in his Atlanta Falcon years as QB, but now he's been on a huge six game losing streak (3-7). I know he was on the sideline with a concussion and can't be blamed for this lose, but he did contribute to most of the others. Nick Foles as Vick, can move the ball down field, only to have all the hard work be deflected by turnovers, penalties and a not so good offensive line. There are many things that can be contributed to this slump but one thing is for sure, this might be the end to Andy Reid's 14- year tenure as coach.

Another bone I'd like to pick is with Tony Romo, the wishy washy QB of my beloved Dallas Cowboys (5-5). Well where do I start? I'm tired of holding my breath with good plays here and there, but most times than none, he walks a fine line. He was able to get a win in this weeks game against the Browns, which went into overtime, but that was won by a field goal. The defense is another thing that the Cowboys can use to their advantage but in this last game, they didn't play like they normally do. If they want to give the Redskins a run for their money, this Thanksgiving, they need to buckle up and hold the line. The Cowboys aren't out of the picture just yet.

Now lets look on the bright side... The Atlanta Falcons! Wow, what a great franchise they have become! Matt Ryan and the Falcons added another win under their belt, but it was definitely an ugly win for Atlanta (9-1). Even though they did bounce back from their first loss of the season against the Saints, last week, the Falcons gave the ball away six times against Arizona and they still won?! I admire their willingness to win and they don't look like they're slowing down anytime soon. Ryan, Gonzalez, White and Jones are on the right path towards the Super Bowl. Rise Up!

Another team worth mentioning is the Houston Texans and QB Matt Schaub. They too are holding on to their (9-1) record, with a victory over the Jaguars (Second lose to Texans this season). Schaub
threw a career-high with five touchdown passes, completed a franchise-record 43 passes and finished with 527 yards in the air, which was the second most in NFL history, right behind Warren Moon (1990). Andre Johnson also had a superb game with a 48 yard sprint for a winning touchdown and not to mention, catching 14 passes for 273 yards. It was definitely a huge turn around for the Texans who were trailing 34-20 with 12 minutes left in the game. Schaub threw 16 consecutive throws to launch the comeback for the Texans! The Jaguars are 1-9 and have lost three road games in overtime this year, well there really isn't much to say about them and on that note we'll wrap this up.
