Cowboys! Maybe It's Time For A Change?

Believe me when I tell you, it's hard to stay enthusiastic about my team, year after year. I have been a Dallas Cowboys fan since the tender age of eight and I remember the glory years of this great franchise like it was yesterday. Every year I find myself excited about the new season and I'm always looking up our new drafts, checking out injured players and hope that the training that goings into our talented veteran players, pays off. All of the hype, only to be let down, 4 weeks into the season. Maybe that's the problem? Maybe we have a team and coaches,that are stuck in their ways and that causes us to keep making huge errors, time and time again.

I admit, all the blame shouldn't be directed towards one person, but more like the entire team, which includes, owners, coaches and the players. The play books need to be redesigned and the players need to practice, practice, practice. Then and only then will they start working in unison and as a team. They should carry themselves at a higher level, than the other teams in the league, because they are the Dallas Cowboys!

Remember when they were "America's Team" and not only Texans, but people from all over, loved this team? Granted I was raised in West Texas, but I know people from California to New Jersey, that were and still are fanatics. Just look at the billion dollar stadium that they built and all the glamour of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and ask yourselves this.... What in the world are they thinking? Get it together for the fans, for the team, for the honor of being known as "America's Team!"

Now let me get to the source of the problem. The first issue, is Jerry Jones and his take over of the team in 1989, replacing long time coach Tom Landry, with Jimmy Johnson. For a owner to come right in and make those kind changes is very unusual. This behavior, goes to show you the kind of leadership the Cowboys have had over the past 24 years. Plus the fact that he says whatever he wants, whenever there is a microphone in front of his face. I don't know who you think you are anymore, Jerry, but until you can prove that this team is worthy of being in the NFC East, please keep a leveled head on your shoulders. A billion dollar stadium with a thousand dollar team playing in it, is only good for music concerts and other live events. Here you go Dallas, the Cowboys present to you: An over the top event center.

The Second problem is the other man we love to hate, Tony Romo. Do I think we should replace our beloved quarterback? The answer is, Yes! I think it's safe to say that season after season, we stood by him and hoped that he would be more focused than the last time he stepped on the field. Romo proves us otherwise in almost every game. This is his tenth season and he has yet to take us all the way to the Super Bowl! It's been said that the owner Jerry Jones wants to extend Romo's contract past 2013. Romo and his agent are holding out for further talks after the 2012 season. That being said, who else will take him? No one... and we can't keep giving him "the chance" to win a ring, because it will not happen. The only thing that is certain is that if the Cowboys keep Romo on, we will continue to be the laughing stock of the NFL. Romo can start off a game well but somewhere in the game he losses focus and all hell backs loose.

The defence this year (2012) is a lot better than most resent years and they continue to hold the line. But offensively, well lets just take this past game as an example... Romo threw five interceptions against the Bears, losing 18-34 and we're 2-2 so far. Luckily we have a bye week this week and maybe we can regroup and come back as a team that has it all together? The Baltimore Ravens are up next and they're no joke.

I think it's safe to say, "Maybe it's time for a change?" I will continue to watch my boys in every match up but I will not put my heart into it 100% until I see one of two things; 1) A change in management/ownership and 2) The removal Tony Romo as quarterback. Then and only then will the fans come together again and support the Dallas Cowboys and the rest of us won't have to hang our heads in total disappointment.
